Horse joint pain is something that has never crossed my mind. I have a horse Semper and never really thought about him getting sick or experiencing pain. What Dr. Ava Frick explained to me was that horse joint pain is common to equines that are at least 15 years of age. Just like us, their tendons can wear down and ache in cold weather. I have had Semper since I was 14 and am realizing that he is growing old too and experiencing horse arthritis and stiffness and swelling. I had not noticed that he was in so much pain and had been suffering for quite some time already. I ride him every day around our farm and was even putting him through hours of practice.
